I've got a little bit out of the way.
"May 31, 2010; around 10:00am; Kinmau, Keishoukoku, United Nation of Nikyo (what would be Monterrey County, California in the real world)
Summer vacation has arrived. Kids everywhere get an entire two and a half months all to themselves to play video games, read comic books, watch TV, and do fuck all but schoolwork (their parents would rather they be studying, but that's neither here nor there). The sun shines, all the cool TV shows come out, public beaches and theme parks are open for business... With all this free time and fun to themselves, there's no way a kid could be upset, right?
Well, if you're Yumi Sakihokoru Ellison, you get to spend a whopping two weeks in some fancy campground and pretend to be best buddies with Tomoko Eiichi, the girl who sits behind you in English class.
Sounds like a walk in the park, right? Well, it might be, if Tomoko didn't make it publicly known every 20 minutes that she thinks about as highly of you as a tire thinks of a sharp rock. And knowing this park, walking in it might result in a hospital stay, and that's BEST case scenario.
But you don't have a choice. Your father works for Tomoko's dad at the biggest law firm in the UNN, and needs to make a nice impression so he can get the biggest pay raise of his life. And Mr. Eiichi is bringing his daughter along for the trip, and she would be SOOOOOO lonely if she had no one to play with (which is bullshit, since her little brother is tagging along, too), so here we are; driving to Pfeiffer South State Park.
Now to be fair, it's not like there isn't an upside. Yumi gets to spend two weeks in a fancy log cabin, probably won't have to do TOO much outdoorsy stuff (they have TV's and vending machines and an actual Chicken Train), and might even get money from Mr. Eiichi again like he did a few months ago when she met him after that assembly about jobs.
But she'll have to share that experience with that rich bitch and her annoying little brother. And force a smile while doing it. Or risk her dad losing a pay raise.
God have mercy on her soul."
